In Year 5 (Hasper and Monet), pupils begin the final stages of the their learning in preparation for Year 6 and then secondary school.
The curriculum continues to stretch the pupils’ learning and the exploration of language, communication and vocabulary are very much at the forefront. The children begin to look deeper at texts in literacy, using skills such as SPAT (Subject, Purpose, Audience, Text Type) and PEE (Point, Evidence, Explanation) to analyse texts.
Other areas of the curriculum such as geography, history and art (along with others) continue to be taught through topics and themes and are delivered through a skills basis.
We continue to support the curriculum through educational visits and provide children with the opportunities to explore their learning in a more independent fashion.
