Dali Class – 15th December 2016
I hope those of you who could make it on Tuesday enjoyed ‘Ralph The Reindeer’. The children worked hard to learn their songs, dances and speaking parts and performed them beautifully. A great team effort we’re sure you’ll agree and we are very proud of them all!
Next Tuesday 20th December we will have a Christmas Party in the classroom for the children. We will put a sheet on the door and would be grateful if each of you could sign up against a food item for the party.
We have had a fun-filled week and the children have carried out various activities including making and decorating their own seasonal cards for friends and family. We have also practised writing letters in role as our own ‘Beasts’, attempting to persuade the city Mayor why we would make an ideal friend for the Lonely Beast.
In Maths we have been finding a quarter and three-quarters of a quantity by sharing sweets equally between different numbers of children. We will spend the rest of this week and next week practicing telling the time.
In History we have been finding out about the famous Tudor explorers Francis Drake and Walter Raleigh.
We are not setting any new spellings this week but it would be useful to revise some of the sounds we have been learning over the past term. We have also sent two sheets home: ‘Year 1 and 2 Common Exception Words’ and a ‘High Frequency Words’ mat that your child should learn to read/ spell as an ongoing project.
As always, children should also be practising their number bonds to 10 (and then 20) over the break.
We wish you all a very restful Christmas break and look forward to seeing you again in the New Year.
