Delaunay Class Newsletter – Friday 13th October
This week we have been continuing to read the book ‘Bedtime for Monsters.’ We retold the story using story maps and role play. We have been discussing story settings and making our own settings in shoeboxes.
We have been revisiting the sounds ck and tch, and learning the key words no, go, so, one
In maths we have been solving number problems to 10 by counting on and using our number facts. We have looked at different ways of recording equations such as writing the total at the beginning of the equation eg 7 = 4 + 3 and filling in missing numbers 8 = ___ +4
Please ensure that your child has their book bag every day with their guided reader and yellow book. They will also need their school library book on a Wednesday as we have a library session on this day and the children are given the opportunity to change their book.
If you have any empty shoeboxes at home, please continue to send them in.
We would also welcome any boxes, plastic containers, bottle tops etc for junk modelling.
How you can help at home.
Please read with your child for 10 minutes every day and talk about the story.
Play a board game together such as snakes and ladders to practise counting on.
Have a lovely weekend,
Sarah and Suzanne
