Dear parents and carers,

World Book Day

Thank you all for the hard work you put into the children’s outfits; they all looked amazing.

This week, we have focused our English lessons on creating our own books, using the ‘lost tale’ that we wrote last week. At the beginning of the week, we focused on editing a section of our stories to include more speech. We also read through our work correcting spellings and punctuation. Following that, the children began to write a second draft, using their very best handwriting.

Next week, we will begin a short topic exploring poetry.

This week, we have continued to learn how to add and subtract decimals to 3 places. The children have discussed when to use written and mental method and have learned how to add and subtract using column method.

Next week, we will be moving on to rounding decimals.

In our art lessons this week, each child has created their own book cover, using marbling inks. We will be using these sheets as the front covers to our ‘lost tales’.

We also created small pieces of art to decorate our book corner, which is now Mirkwood Forest themed.

This week, the children began our new topic on Easter by exploring and discussing the idea of a pre-determined destiny.

Have a great weekend,
