Year 3 will be visiting the Shaw theatre to see Snow White on Monday 12th for the 1:30 showing. Please remember to pay the £3, in cash, to the school office.  On the day the children should bring in a packed lunch and will have it in the classroom at 11.30. We aim to be away by 12 and should be back at school by 5. If this doesn’t work for you please let us know ASAP.

Next Wednesday, will be our Christmas performance. It will begin at 9:30 and end at 10:30.

In English this week, Year 3 have been completing their persuasive letters from Hogarth to the neighboring farmers. They edited and improved their drafts from last week and then copied it up in neat for a class book. We have also described the contents of a scrap yard, as seen in the book, using appropriate adjectives to describe various items. We focused on selecting adjectives that would convey a clear meaning to our reader. Following that, the children then explored the feelings of various characters in the book selecting evidence to support their theories.

In Maths this week, Year 3 have been revising telling the time, particularly focusing on the difference between “x past” and “x to”. They have had to write and draw different times in pictures and in words. We explored the fact that there are 60 minutes in an hour and discussed how the relationship between the number of minutes past and to the hour. At the end of the week the children then completed word problems based around time.

DT / Topic

In their topic lessons this week Year 3 have started a Design and Technology piece based creating either a Stone age settlement or an Iron age settlement.

This week in Science, the children had the opportunity to explore the relationship between magnets. They made a number of important connections, including that two .like poles will repel instead of attract. The children then presented their findings

Each child will bring home a sheet with this week’s spellings and homework on.

Have a lovely weekend,

Jack and Adam
