Friday 13th October

Dear Parents and Carers

Notices

We are looking forward to seeing you all at parents’ evening next Tuesday and Thursday. If you have not received a code in order to book an appointment online please email the office in order to get your code. The email address is:

office@westonpark.haringey.sch.uk

On Thursday Nursery children will be taking part in the school calendar shoot. You will receive an email from the office explaining more about this. Please bring your child’s outfit into Nursery in the morning in a carrier bag with their name on it and leave it on their peg. We will help them to get changed but please be mindful that we will be helping all the children. If the outfit can be easy to put on that would be very helpful. If you have any questions please let us know.

A reminder that next week will be our last week before the half term holiday. There will be no Nursery the week beginning 23rd October. There will also be no nursery on Monday 30th October as this is a whole school INSET day.

This Week

This week Nursery was invaded by a family of bears, they found a cosy cave in our outside area and challenged us with some tricky Maths problems. We all enjoyed going on a bear hunt counting as we went. For example, in the long wavy grass we found some scary spiders to count. We concentrated on saying one number name for each object as we moved the spiders onto the web. This helped us to see which spiders we had counted and which ones we hadn’t. We also enjoyed retelling the story inside with a small world scene. The family and their dog went on all sorts of adventures. An ambulance even had to be called as the little baby got stuck in the oozy mud!

Outside we also enjoyed playing in the dinosaur world, painting on the windows and going on a bug hunt in the allotment area. We found lots of wriggly worms and some interesting looking, unidentified eggs!

Inside the children loved making an animal playground with the junk modeling. They were full of very creative ideas and got busy with tubes, containers and tape to make slides, a zip wire and a very realistic bouncy castle! We have also enjoyed painting with the cars and ramps, making machines in our inventor’s workshop and playing with some very realistic wriggly worms in the cornflour mud.

Next week we will continue with our bear theme as the children have really embraced the bear mania. We will also be looking at the story ‘Brave Bear’.

We are looking forward to seeing you next week.

Have a lovely weekend.
