Friday 18th November
We have had another fabulous week in Nursery. A big warm welcome to all of the new children who have joined us this week!
We have all thoroughly enjoyed retelling the story of ‘Billy Goats Gruff’. Lots of the children were very keen to act out the story and experiment with different construction equipment to make a bridge for the goats. They were less keen, however, to play with the troll’s ‘boogies’ in the tactile area. Perhaps it was a little too realistic!
This week we have also been busy cutting, sticking and tying. The children made some wonderfully creative outfits for the dolls. They all looked wonderful, if a little underdressed for this cold weather!
We have also been looking at shapes in our environment, going on shape walks around the school and making large ‘shape collages’ outside.
We were even lucky enough to enjoy a live cello performance from Jo Keithley, who is doing her Early Years Intitial Teacher Training (EYIT) at Weston Park Nursery. The children were captivated! We are very lucky to have Jo with us for the next half term and are looking forward to more cello concerts.
The cooks this week were: Uma, Uma, Bleu, Edith, Wren and Zachary, Thank you for the delicious banana bread!
Inspired by the children’s enthusiasm for story telling and their love for Peppa Pig, we will be looking at the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ next week.
Don’t forget to look on Tapestry at www.tapestryjournal.com to see if your child will be a focus child next week.
Have a lovely weekend
