Thursday 1st March

Dear Parents and Carers

What an exciting week we’ve had. The children have enjoyed wrapping up warm, pulling on their wellies and exploring the ice and snow. On Monday we used brushes and hot water to mark make and write in the frost. On Wednesday we painted the snow with pipettes and food colouring. For those less intrepid explorers we brought the snow inside for investigation, it melted very quickly.

This week we have also been enjoying our book ‘Aliens Love Underpants’. We have been carrying out lots of space and pant related activities. We used collage and paint to design and decorate pants, washed and wrung out pants in the water tray and counted alien eyes on the maths table. We have also investigated magnets to make some robot, tin can aliens on the exploring table. There has been lots of superhero role-play as the children saved the world from an alien attack!

We also constructed a stage area with the large bricks and had a wonderfully entertaining afternoon as some children took it in turn to perform a dance or song.

To celebrate World Book Day we also made our own beautiful books. Each child made their own front cover using marbling ink and on Wednesday we created our books ready to write our ‘sticker stories’.

Thank you to our cooks this week, Scarlett, Violet T, Hollie and Zoe K . The blueberry muffins were delicious.

Next week we will be continuing with our alien and pant theme. We will be looking at some of the other books in the ‘Aliens Love Underpants’ series.

Thank you so much to Ruby’s mum who came in to read a wonderfully colourful story on Tuesday. Another big thank you to our ‘Mystery Guests’ last Friday. Anna’s Dad came to talk about his hobby, basketball, along with Anna’s mum. The children thoroughly enjoyed trying to shoot some hoops! We would love to have some more ‘Mystery Guests’ to talk to us about their job or hobby. Please let Sally or Felicity know if you would be keen . If Friday does not suit you we can easily find another time.

Have a lovely weekend and stay warm!

Felicity and Sally
