Thursday 22nd February

Dear Parents

Notices

  • We really appreciate your £6 cooking donations every term.
  • We are on the look out for some clean and empty tins, so if you have baked beans this weekend please wash out the tins and bring them in on Monday.
  • Please ensure that your child has a spare change of clothing on their pegs. If you have any spare socks, pants, knickers or clothes at home we would appreciate them for our spare clothes collection.

This week we have thoroughly enjoyed reading the book Stanley’s Stick and getting involved in some sticky activities. We made our own ‘fantasticks’ on the finger gym, painted with things attached to the end of sticks, collected, counted, measured and ordered with sticks.

Outside the children have really enjoyed our shape obstacle course, we climbed over the equipment, scurried through the tunnel and then had to select the shape based on Sally’s clues, for example: “I have 1 side and no corners.” The children became very confident and by the end of the week they were playing the game independently, giving each other clues. We also LOVED our superhero number hunt. Some sneaky villains had stranded the poor numbers up high in the trees and on the shed roof. The children had to work together to save the numbers. A great activity for problem solving, teamwork and numeral recognition.

Inside we have enjoyed making some sticker stories, story maps and a shape walk. The children went on a shape hunt and used the ipads to take photos of the different shapes that they saw. Thanks to the cooks this week who were Ruby, Anna, Max and Mia. The banana bread was delicious!

We have also made a new hospital role-play area and dinosaur world in the sand pit.

Book Week

On Thursday 1st March the children can dress up for World Book Day. Nursery’s theme is Space as we will be looking at the book ‘Aliens Love Underpants’. Perhaps your child would like to dress up as an alien or an astronaut?

On Friday 2nd March we will be visiting Hornsey Library at 9.30am. The library staff will be reading us a story. We will need some parent volunteers so if you are available to help please let us know. If your child normally comes in the afternoon you and your child are more than welcome to join us, just let us know.

If you would like to come in and read your favourite book to the children anytime during that week please let us know.

Don’t forget to look at Tapestry to see if your child will be a focus child next week.

Have a wonderful weekend

Felicity and Sally
