Friday 24th February
This week we have been getting back into the swing of things. Each day the children have explored the cupboard and chosen their favourite things to play with. They came up with some wonderfully creative ideas. One particular hit was filling pop socks in the sand. Sally and I never would have thought of that!
Next week is ‘book week’. On Tuesday the children will be making books with a local artist. We will also repeat the activity on Thursday so the children who come later in the week do not miss out. However, the children on Thursday will have to make do with me, Sally and Rachel and not the local artist…sorry!
The activity may be a little messy as we will be marbelling so make sure your child is not wearing their best clothes on Tuesday or Thursday. We would also be grateful for some donations of newspaper, thank you!
Dressing Up for Charity
On Thursday March 2nd, your child can dress up as their favourite character from a book. We will be asking for a contribution of £1 per child, which will be donated to the charity Book Aid International who send books to African schools, libraries and classrooms (see their website for details and costume ideas – www.bookaid.org).
If your child does not attend Nursery on a Thursday they come dressed as their favourite character on any day of their choosing!
Read to your Child’s Class
The children would love to hear your favourite childhood book (or an excerpt) so we are inviting any (grand)parent/ carer to come in and read to the class for 10 minutes over the next few weeks. Please let us know if you are interested in doing this. We welcome all but particularly want to encourage all you Dads and Grandads to come in and read!
Next week we will also be looking at the book Supertato. We will be exploring different vegetables and making our own superhero vegetables!
Don’t forget to check Tapestry to see if your child is a focus child next week.
Have a great weekend
Felicity and Sally
