Dear Parents/Carers,

Friday 16thYear 5 and 6 to Snow White at the Shaw theatre! Please remember to pay £3 cash to the School Office. Children need a packed lunch for school, which we have before we go in the classroom. We will be back to school at 5pm.   It is also Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Save the Children. Wear your wackiest festive jumper and bring in a pound to support this worthy cause.

This week:

English

Monet created rules and punishments for those living on Eel Island.

Maths

Year 5 investigated Measurement (Time) and solved problems associated with it using all four operations.

History

Monet created original propaganda posters, which were to entice soldiers and the British public to join the WWII cause.

Next week

English – The class will be using their imaginative writing skills to create a story that involves the main character of “Floodland” Zoe breaking one of their originals laws to find her lost parents.

Maths – Monet will be reviewing number and place value, taking particular notice of: 6-digit sums, negative numbers and problems associated with it.

History – Year 5 will investigate the roles and responsibilities of the armed forces during World War II.

Homework

English

Students are to imagine they have become the new Prime Minister and are allowed to introduce three new laws to the UK. These need to be justified and in full sentences.

Maths

Monet will be using all four operations to find the day of the week they were born.

History

In following with our study of WWII notable figures, students will complete a comprehension sheet, which focuses on British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

Notices

P.E / Swimming

Please ensure your child has the correct swimming kit (towel, swimming trunks and hat) for Monday’s lesson. If these are not brought to school, your child will not be allowed to swim and will instead stay at Weston Park Primary School for the afternoon instead of swimming.
