In Maths this week we explored the relationship between fractions and decimals. The children ordered decimals and rounded them to the nearest whole number. Next week the children will use decimal notations to tenths/hundredths to record mass in kilograms. They will also convert smaller units of mass using multiplication and round numbers on scales to the nearest 100g.
We have been reading the Ice Palace by Robert Swindells this week. Through drama and role play the children have had the opportunity to really explore this gripping story in great detail. They wrote some super, heartfelt notes to parents as one of the characters from the story. Next week we will continue with this story and they will write an alternative adventure.
In Science this week we did a short assessment based on last terms topic – digestion, food chains and teeth. The children were then introduced to our new topic ‘sound’. Next week we will investigate this area further.
