Year4 Kusama Class Newsletter – Friday 16th September 2016
Dear Parents and Carers,
A big thank you to all parents who helped out on our trip to the Woods on Thursday. We had a great time imagining what life would have been like as Anglo Saxon. The children collaborated really well and made some fabulous shelters out of sticks and twigs.
English – This week the children annotated an image of a witch and they started to write notes about ways to spot one. They also started to create a warning poster about witches. Next week they will
Next week we will plan and write a character profile and an interview between a reporter and ‘witchophile’.
Maths – This week we continued to explore place value, and partition numbers into thousands, hundreds, tens and units. The children ordered and compared these numbers
Next week we will focus on addition and subtraction within 1000.
This week the children did an active assessment linked to digestion, teeth and food chains. Next week we will explore digestion in more detail.
Following on from our shelter building activity this week, we will explore ways to improve the structures using Anglo Saxon methods. The children will also continue to research information based on settlements and buildings.
