- The Matisse Class Christmas party will take place on Wednesday 21st We’d be very grateful if you could bring some party food to share with the class. We’ve put up a sign up sheet on our classroom door, please sign up your child’s name next to an item of food. No nuts please.
- School finishes for the Christmas holidays at 1:30pm on Wednesday 21st
- Tuesday 3rd January is an INSET day, the school is closed to pupils on this day.
Sounds of the week:
This week we practised some of the sounds which have two letters that make one sound:
ng (thing on a string)
nk (I think I stink)
All the children have completed a PM Benchmark Reading Assessment with Adelle this week. This assessment gives us an accurate understanding of a child’s reading level and allows us to analyse the errors they make so we know how to best support their reading. After Christmas the children will read as part of a small group 3x week with other children who read at a similar level to them. Thank you for all your continued support with your child’s reading this term.
Our number of the week has been the number 10; we practised writing this number and spotted the number 10 all around our classroom. On our maths table we’ve been exploring lots of Christmas themed maths, including ordering numbers 1 – 10 and then 1 – 20 using Christmas decorations and counting out buttons to decorate a snowman.
Next week, we’ll continue all our festive activities including making Christmas cards and writing lists to Father Christmas. Benjy’s Mum and Dad – Al and Gideon will be visiting us to talk about the Jewish celebration of Hanukkah. We’ll finish the term with our Christmas party!
We wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or Happy Holidays. We look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!
Adelle and Sue
