  • The EYFS and KS1 Christmas performance will take place on Tuesday 13th December at 9:30am.

Sounds of the week:

Matisse Class have now learnt all the Set 1 sounds, what an achievement! Over the next few weeks we’ll spend time consolidating Set 1. We will also undertake a sound assessment of each child to find out exactly which sounds the children know and find out if there are any gaps in their knowledge and understanding. After the Christmas break, children who are ready will go onto learn the Set 2 sounds!

x (Down the boy’s arm and leg, then repeat on the other side)

Two letters, one sound:

ng (Thing on a string)

nk (I think I stink)

Please continue to look at your child’s sound book on a daily basis, remember to go back and review all the sounds taught to far.

All children have read 1:1 or in a small group with Adelle or Nikki (our supply teacher) this week.

Our number of the week has been the number 8; we practised writing this number and spotted the number 8 all around our classroom. We also focused on measuring length and height during our work on the Human Body. We set up a height chart and the children have really enjoyed measuring each other and comparing their heights to find out who is the tallest and who is the shortest?

Next week our topic will be based on the book: ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. There will be lots of nature based activities in our outside area linked to the environments the family travel through on their bear hunt. There will be natural weaving and counting sticks and stones. In Science our topic will be ice! We’ll be doing lots of investigations using ice, such as finding out which size ice cube melts the quickest?

Have a lovely weekend,

Adelle and Sue
