Dear Parents/Carers,

Notices:

Swimming has now finished for year 5. We will be having an extra session of PE on a Monday starting next term. Please remind your children to bring their kits in.

English:

We have been editing and improving our diaries from last week and have completed the writing of our newspaper report linked to the Lancastria disaster from WWII. We will be carrying on with the reading of ‘Goodnight Mr Tom’ next half term and will be working from the text to complete different pieces of writing.

Maths:

Year 5 has been looking at word problems this week, using multiplication and division.

Science:

We have been writing our ‘Spread the Healthy Word’ leaflets this week and have reviewed everything we have learnt about Animals and Humans.

Homework:

Spellings:

invincible
forcible
eligible
tangible
legible
negligible
submergible
illegible
intangible
unintelligible

Your child might have a couple of extra spellings to practise, which I have picked directly from their work in class. Please make sure these are practised too. There is no need to hand in the spellings sheet, as the children won’t be able to practise them at home if they do so.

Maths:

Children have been given some sheets to recap their learning this half term. It does not need to be completed, it is an opportunity for children to revise.

Reading:

Children should have reached chapter 17 of ‘Goodnight Mr Tom’. Please read up to chapter 20.

Have a lovely break,

Irene
